Secure bike locker pilot project in Laval

Laval residents who commute by bike now have a new, convenient, and secure bike parking option in downtown Laval.

Two modules with six lockers each were installed at the Montmorency and Le Carrefour terminals as part of a pilot project jointly led by Laval économique, Ville de Laval’s economic development department, CAA-Québec, and Vélo-Transit.

A safe and connected network for cyclists in Gatineau

The Rapibus bike path in Gatineau offers a safe, 14.8-kilometre alternate route for cyclists, connecting the Gatineau and Hull areas. This corridor avoids motor vehicle traffic while linking major employment, educational, and recreational hubs. In addition to its well-lit and secure tunnels, the path is equipped with bike racks at 10 Rapibus stations and three Parc-o-bus (park-and-ride) facilities. Secure bike lockers are also available at four strategic locations, facilitating bike-bus intermodal travel, with the first few hours free on the VéloTransit app.

Secure bike lockers at Collège Lionel Groulx

Collège Lionel Groulx has installed secure bike lockers to encourage active transportation and reduce its community’s environmental footprint. With bike racks, bike lockers, and showers now available, students and staff can use the dedicated infrastructure to ride to school and park their bike out of the elements. Rental options are flexible—by the hour, day, or month—and accessible via the VéloTransit app. This project, supported by the Fonds Vert (green fund), aims to promote sustainable transportation habits while improving users’ health and quality of life.

A new service for active mobility enthusiasts

Ville de Gatineau, in partnership with the Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO), is launching a secure bike locker pilot project. The project involves installing four autonomous lockers, three of which are already in service in the Aylmer, Hull, and Gatineau areas. A fourth locker will be installed in the Buckingham area, near the Papineau hospital, to make it easier for employees to access the facility and encourage them to bike to the bus stop.
